COMETS SOCCER CLUB - FORMER PLAYERS

 


In past years, the Comets Soccer Club has placed 14 players on U.S. National Teams, 5 players on U.S. Olympic Teams, 14 players on the Parade All-America list, and numerous graduating players with college scholarships to Brown University, Rutgers, Southern Methodist University, Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Clemson, South Carolina, Indiana, UCLA, Harvard, Notre Dame, St. Louis, Vanderbilt, Creighton, Maryland, Syracuse, Washington, Regis, Midwestern and Centenary, as well as many other fine universities.


Congratulations to (84 Comets) Brad Napper (Northwestern) Brad was selected by FC Dallas in the MLS Supplemental Draft January 26, 2006.
Kudos to two members of the (87 Blue team); Scott Geppert and Sam Reeder.  Scott was named the Ivy League Rookie of the year for his play at Brown, and Sam, who attends the University of San Diego, was chosen for WCC All Conference Honors, All WCC Honorable Mention as well as WCC All-Freshmen Team for 2005. In addition he was named to the Top Drawer Men's College Soccer All-Rookie Team.  The boys graduated from Coppell High School and Marcus High School, respectively, and were coached by Horst Bertl while on the Comets. 
Former Comets player Jamie Watson ('86 Comets) was a member of the U.S. Men's U-17 National Team and now plays for Real Salt Lake of the MLS.
Philip Salyer ('81 Comets) was a member of the U.S. National Team for the U-20 World Cup in Argentina. Philip has played with Werder Bremen of the German Bundesliga and FC Dallas of Major League Soccer.
Former Comets players Chad Deering, previously a midfielder for the Dallas Burn of Major League Soccer and with the Dallas Sidekicks, and Jeff Agoos, defender for the MetroStars of Major League Soccer, both played on the U.S. National Team and participated in the 1998 World Cup in France and the 2002 World Cup in Japan/Korea, respectively.
